In 1946 – On #ThisDayInHistory, modern bikini was introduced by french designer Louis Reard who unveiled a daring two-piece swimsuit at the Piscine Molitor, a popular swimming pool in Paris. Parisian showgirl Micheline Bernardini modeled the new fashion. Actress Bridget Bardot drew attention when she was photographed wearing a bikini on the beach during the Cannes Film Festival in 1953. According to French fashion historian Olivier Saillard, the bikini is perhaps the most popular type of female beachwear around the globe because of "the power of women, and not the power of fashion“. By the early 2000s, bikinis had become a US$811 million business annually. #modernbikini #bikini #fashion #cannesfilmfestival #swimsuithistory #swimwear #swimsuit #halterbikini #bikinimodelleri #highwaistbottoms #essentials #vintagebikini #bikiniset #beachdress #oliviersaillard #louisreard #fashionbikini #femalebeachwear #historyoftheworld
